The written exam is the first stage of the selection process. The board will conduct a written exam in which objective type questions will be asked.
Physical Standard Test or Physical Efficiency Test:
The Physical endurance test is the second round of the selection process. Candidates who will shortlist the Bihar Home Guard written exam will be eligible for the Physical Endurance Test and Physical Efficiency Round.
Bihar Home Guard 2025 Written Exam Pattern
There will be Objective type questions. The total question will be of 100 marks which will be of 10+2 level. And the total mark is 100. The total time allotted will be 2 hours. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. And 1 mark will be assigned for the right answer.

Bihar Home Guard Physical Standard Test Norms
The Physical Endurance Test is the second stage of the selection process for Bihar Home Guard Selection Process. The Physical Standard Test will be qualifying in nature. Candidates must have below mentioned physical standard norms in order to get selected in further stages of the selection process.
HEIGHT :
- Males of General/ OBC/ Extremely Backward Caste: Minimum165 cm
- Males of SC/ ST: Minimum 162 cm
- All Female Candidates: 155 cm

Bihar Home Guard Physical Efficiency Test
The Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted for a total of 100 marks. Candidates are required to qualify various tasks as assigned by the board.
Race for Male Candidates:
The board has bifurcated marks according to the distance covered in minutes. To get maximum marks candidates need to cover maximum distance in minimum time. The board has set 1 km to cover in 6 minutes. This Race has a weightage of 50 marks. The table is applicable for male candidates.

Bihar Home Guard 2025 Perks and Allowances
The Bihar Home Guards are offered a lot of amenities and facilities as well as awards for their gallantry, meritorious and distinguished services. These allowances include:
Daily Duty Allowance:
This allowance was increased from Rs. 400 to Rs. 675. There will a relative increase in the daily duty allowance from the month of April of every year to the allowance being increased to Rs. 1000 per month.
Pollution Hazard Allowance:
This allowance will be offered to around 2500 home guards who are looking after traffic regulation duties at par with traffic police constables.
Uniform Allowance:
The uniform allowance is also offered to Bihar Home Guards as offered to the police constables. This allowance involves the Police Department purchasing & providing the home-guards with the uniforms that they wear.
Maternity Leave/Allowance:
Six-month maternity leave will be allowed to the female home-guards but up to two children. The same goes for male home-guards who will be given paternity leave for 15 days.
Diet changes:
Diet changes or dietary allowances are given to Bihar Home Guards when they are caught up in crisis situations and run out of food and water supplies.
Medical Facilities:
Home guards are provided medicines in-unit police hospitals as well as are entitled to medical treatment. (dental, vision and prescription expenses etc.)
Other Charges:
An amount of Rs. 10,000/ is provided to families of the home guards who died in service. Health insurance coverage is also given to home-guards as well as their dependent family members with a 2BHK housing scheme as well.

After being recruited by the Bihar Police Department, the recruited person will have to serve a probation period of 1 year. However, their confirmation after the said period will depend upon the decision of the Commandant. He will decide the same based on a few factors:
- The candidate should have completed his basic training in a proper manner before being confirmed to a final position.
- The basic training should be completed within three years of being appointed for the post or else the Commandant has the complete right to remove such candidates from his duty or service.
- If such an event occurs like the training course not being conducted or if the personnel gets occupied with any kind of flood or drought relief work or any sort of illness/accident; the probation period will increase up to an extra year.
- Promotion in the case of the Bihar Home guard will be under the responsibility of the Departmental Promotion Committee which is constituted by the Commandant General.
