The Assam TET exam is conducted for the post of the lower primary teacher and the upper primary teacher. The Educational Qualification required by both the posts varies as per the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria laid out by the Department. The candidates applying for any of the posts must be qualified for the post or else they won’t be allowed to sit for the examination.

• The candidates having a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education Degree are eligible to apply for the post.
• The candidates having a 2-year B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) Degree are also eligible to apply for the post.
• The candidates having a Degree in any Special Education will also be allowed to appear for the exam.

• The candidates in Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4 year B. El. Ed (Bachelor in Elementary Education) are eligible to apply for the exam.
• The candidates in Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./ B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/ B. Sc. Ed are also eligible to apply for the exam.
• Candidates with a graduate degree with at least 50% marks are also eligible to apply.
• The candidates with Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1 year B. Ed (Bachelor in Education) are liable to apply.
• Any Graduate and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education is liable to apply.
