Overview
The SSC GD Eligibility Criteria 2026 is released along with the official SSC GD Constable Notification.The detailed eligibility rules including SSC GD Age Limit, Qualification, Nationality, and Physical Standards. Candidates need to fulfill these criterias to be eligible for the SSC GD Exam. SSC GD Constable Eligibility requires candidates to be Indian citizens with an age limit of 18 to 23 years (for General category) as on 1st January 2026, and they must have passed Class 10th / Matric from a recognized board.
Candidates are also required to meet the prescribed PST and PET physical standards. However, as per the latest update, they will not be rejected on the basis of weight during PST, as weight assessment will now be conducted during the Medical Examination (MET) based on BMI, with a standard range of 18 to 25 for qualification. SSC GD New Medical Guidelines 2026
The Staff Selection Commission has introduced revised medical examination guidelines for SSC GD Constable 2026 based on the Ministry of Home Affairs OM dated 09 March 2026. The key change is that candidates will no longer be rejected on the basis of weight during PST. Instead, weight assessment will be done during the Medical Examination using BMI criteria (18–25 range). These updated rules will apply to both DME and RME stages.

SSC GD Nationality 2026
Nationality is the first and most important eligibility requirement for SSC GD 2026. Candidates must belong to one of the approved citizenship categories listed by the Government of India. This ensures that the applicant is legally eligible to serve under the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Below are the accepted nationality conditions:

SSC GD Physical Test 2026
