SBI CBO Eligibility 2026
The government examinations have certain eligibility that must be fulfilled by the interested candidates applying for the post or appearing in the examination. For the SBI CBO Eligibility 2026, it is mandatory to satisfy all the eligibility such as age limit, nationality, working experience, and educational qualification to be eligible for the post of Circle Based Officer.
SBI CBO Age Limit (31.12.2025)
Candidates who are appearing for the Circle Based Officer 2026 must check the exam age limit before applying online. According to the SBI CBO 2026 eligibility, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of 31.12.2025, i.e., born not earlier than 01.01.1996 and not later than 31.12.2004 (both dates inclusive).
SBI CBO Age Relaxation
SBI CBO provides age relaxation to the candidates belonging to certain categories which are mentioned in the table below:

SBI CBO Educational Qualification 2026
Candidates applying for the SBI CBO post must fulfil SBI CBO Educational Qualification criteria. As per the bank notification, candidates who graduated from a recognised university, or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government of India qualify this particular academic criteria. This also includes candidates possessing following qualifications:
- Integrated Dual Degree (IDD)
- Medical
- Engineering
- Chartered Accountant
- Cost Accountant
SBI CBO Local Language
Candidates who are applying for the SBI CBO post must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking in their chosen local language of the State. The test of local language will be conducted to assess the candidate’s knowledge which is a part of the selection process Those candidates who produce their 10/12th result or certificates in support of having knowledge about their selected local knowledge will not have to appear for the local language test.
SBI CBO Reservation 2026
People with benchmark disabilities will only be eligible for the reservation. To define benchmark disability, a person with not less than 40% of specified disability in which the disability cannot be measured and certified by the certifying authorities. The candidates who want to avail of these benefits must submit a disability certificate issued by the Competent Authority as per the Government of India guidelines.

SBI CBO Annual Package 2026
The selected candidates who fall under the final merit list will be considered eligible for the post of SBI Circle Based Officer. These candidates will then receive a lucrative salary package according to the 7th pay commission. The annual salary that an SBI CBO would receive will be approximately INR 6,00,000/- INR 12,00,000/-. The CBO will also be eligible for several allowances & perquisites including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, etc., as per government rules in force from time to time.

SBI CBO In-Hand Salary 2026
The SBI Circle Based Officer In-hand salary is around ₹70,000 to ₹72,000. This amount includes basic pay of ₹48,480 and various allowances as per the guidelines of the 7th Pay Commission. The actual take-home pay may slightly vary based on the posting location and applicable deductions. Along with the basic pay, officers receive allowances like DA, HRA, and other benefits that enhance the overall package. This makes the role financially rewarding and secure for those joining the officer cadre at SBI.
SBI CBO Probation Period 2026
The candidates once selected for the post of SBI CBO in the respective circles will have to undergo a probationary period of 6 months. At the time of the probation period, the candidates will be under continuous assessment until the time of confirmation. Those candidates who fail to qualify for the probationary period will be terminated from the job. The candidates who pass their assessment as per Bank standards, will be eligible to join the service of the Bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). The selected officers will be in general cadre. They will be governed by the promotion policy applicable for Bank’s general cadre officers.
Candidates who pass the exam and successfully finish their probation period won’t be entitled for
- inter-circle transfer/
- Corporate Centre Posting/
- Corporate Centre Establishment Posting/
- Foreign Posting up to his/ her promotion to SMGS-IV Grade OR
- 12 years of service,
whichever is earlier.
SBI CBO Career Growth & Promotion
The candidates who have qualified the exam will join the SBI as a Circle Based Officer at Junior Management Grade Scale 1. Later on, as per the performance of the candidate and the rules of the bank, there are chances and opportunities for candidates to get promoted to Senior Management Grade Scale 4 (SMGS IV). However, the candidates will be monitored closely by the officials of the bank
Note: No candidate will be eligible for inter-circle transfer until their promotion to 12 years of service or SMGS-IV Grade, or whichever follows on later.

Documents Required to Appear for Interview
The applicants who will be shortlisted for the interview will be required to produce one photo ID proof along with the call letter or admit card. Any of the following photo ID proof will be acceptable:
- Passport
- Aadhar
- PAN Card
- Driving License
- Voter's ID Card
- Bank Passbook with duly attested Photograph
- Identity Card issued by School /College

Document Verification Process during Interview Round
The candidates will have to submit a copy of the photo ID along with the call letter. Along with the interview, verification of documents will also take place. Hence the candidates must bring along copies of all the relevant documents, along with their originals. The following documents must be produced:
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Educational Certificates (Relevant MarkSheets/ Degree/ Certificate )
- Professional Qualification Certificate (eg. MBA, CA, CFA, ICWA, etc.) if applicable
- JAIIB/ CAIIB certificate (if applicable)
- Experience Certificates
- Form-16/ Salary Slip

SBI CBO Final Selection
The third stage in the SBI CBO Selection process is the release of the Merit List for final selection. However, candidates must note that the clearing of all the stages of selection will not guarantee selection. A merit/select list will be drafted for the final selection. The candidates will be placed in the descending order of merit. If the candidate is included in this list, he/she will receive the appointment.

SBI CBO Medical Test
The merit list is not the final stage. The final stage of the SBI CBO Selection process for the appointment of selected candidates will be the medical fitness test. Hence, the selected candidates will have to face a medical test before joining. The candidates who will be declared medically unfit will not be offered an appointment irrespective of his/her performance in the interview.
