MPSC Stenographer Exam Details 2026

The selection process for **MPSC Stenographer** is conducted in the following stages:\n1. **Written Online Examination (CBT)**: Qualifying objective test.\n2. **Skill Test / Physical Test**: (For specific posts like Clerk or Constable).\n3. **Document Verification**: Detailed check of academic qualifications and category certificates.\n4. **Medical Fitness Test**: Standard government medical examination.

The recruitment written exam covers:\n- **General Intelligence & Reasoning**: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, series, coding-decoding, puzzles.\n- **Quantitative Aptitude**: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data interpretation.\n- **General English**: Vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, error spotting.\n- **General Awareness**: Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, and general science.

Candidates recruited for the **Stenographer** post will receive the following pay scale:\n- **Salary Pay Scale**: **₹25,500 - ₹1,32,300**\n- **Allowances**: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and medical benefits.

As per the official notification, the MPSC Stenographer Annual Package will vary as per the posting. For Upper Grade Stenographer, the annual package is estimated to be around INR 5-5.5 lakhs. For Lower Grade Stenographer, the annual package rounds off to INR 4.5-4.8 lakhs. Whereas for Steno Typists, the annual package will be INR 3.4-3.8 lakhs. This will be included with admissible allowances like Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, reimbursement for medical expenses, Provident Fund, etc. as per the regulations set by the commission.

Candidates recruited as MPSC Stenographers will be put through a period of probation wherein their performance will be critically assessed. During this period, candidates will also receive training and gain insight into the day-to-day work and responsibilities. As of now, the commission has not mentioned the exact period of probation. It has been mentioned that the commission will release all the details pertaining to the syllabus, exam pattern, selection process and the aftermath if it receives enough applications in due course.

Candidates must note that they will be made permanent to their respective position as MPSC Stenographer after the successful completion of the probation period. Thereafter, they will receive the salary as per the mentioned pay scale along with further admissible allowances.

The MPSC Stenographer age limit is prescribed to be in the range of 18 to 38 years. Candidates must be under the age of 38 at the time of application. This condition, however, is only applicable to candidates belonging to the unreserved or general category.
