• The candidates must hold citizenship of India OR
• A subject of Sikkim
• A person of Indian origin migrated to India with intentions of permanent settlement from Pakistan(subject to the State Government issuing a certificate of eligibility in their favor.). The certificate of eligibility in respect of a candidate falling under this category will be valid only for a period of one year from the date of his appointment and thereafter he can be retained in that position only if he is in India.
• An Indian or Nepali from a French or Portuguese territory (subject to the State Government issuing a certificate of eligibility in their favor.)

• Candidates, who have come to India from Pakistan before 19 July 1948 and have been living in India only modestly since then.
• Persons who have come to India from Pakistan after 18 July 1948 and who have registered themselves as citizens of India.
• Non-citizens candidates falling under the above-mentioned 3 and 4 categories, who entered the service of the government before 26 January 1950, and who are still in such service since that time.
• Those candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can submit their applications only for vacant posts under unreserved/open and the applicants will not get any benefit of reservation or age relaxation for MP Jail Prahari.

• Applicants should have normal eyesight and should be physically fit for his/her services.
• Candidates should not be physically handicapped.
• Candidates should not have flat feet and no vision defect.

• A Reservation will be given to candidates of SC/ST and Under the Inter-State Marriage Scheme of the Backward Class, Welfare Department Nominee partners of the erudite couple received a letter from the Department of Governance. C- Five years in maximum age limit with reference to 3-10-85-3-1, dated 29.06.1985.
• A Reservation will be given to candidates of Veterans of the Department of Governance, in uniform, to the sportspersons from the Verma type C-3-18- 85-3-1, D and 05 years in the maximum age limit with respect to 03.09.1985.

Other Disqualifications

• Candidates with more than 2 living children where one was born on or after 26th January, 2001 are ineligible (with specific exceptions for multiple births).
• Any person convicted by a court for an offense for moral turpitude is disqualified
