Candidates applying for the Haryana Police Constable exam will first be shortlisted based on their Common Eligibility Test (CET) Score. The CET Score serves as the initial qualifying criterion, ensuring that only those candidates who meet the required academic and aptitude standards progress to the next stage of the selection process.

To be eligible for the constable position, male candidates should be at least 170 cm for the General category, and 168 cm for the eligible reserve categories. The chest should be 83 cm unexpanded and 87 cm expanded in case of the General category, while for eligible reserve categories, it should be 81 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded. In case of female candidates, the minimum height should be 158 cm for the General category and 156 cm forthe eligible reserve categories. The Physical Measurement Test is qualifying in nature, and the Director General of Police may grant suitable relaxation in physical standards for outstanding sports persons. Ex-servicemen, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and backward classes candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 1 inch in height and chest measurements.

The Physical Screening Test (PST) is designed to assess the physical fitness and endurance of candidates who have qualified in the Physical Measurement Test. The standards for this test are as follows: male candidates must complete a 2.5-kilometer race within 12 minutes, female candidates must complete a 1.0-kilometer race within 6 minutes, and ex-servicemen must complete a 1.0-kilometer race within 5 minutes. To ensure the reliability of the test, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) or any other superior technology may be employed at the discretion of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission. It is the candidates responsibility to have the requisite medical fitness to participate in this test. Candidates who fail to meet the prescribed standards for the Physical Screening Test will be eliminated from the further selection process.

The Knowledge Test, carrying 97% weightage, involves a multiple-choice exam with questions in General Studies, General Science, Current Affairs, General Reasoning, Mental Aptitude, Numerical Ability, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, basic computer knowledge (10%), and Haryana knowledge (20%). Candidates who clear the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Screening Test (PST) will be selected for the test. The test will be in Hindi and English. The test will be of an objective type in nature.

The final step is Document Verification (DV) and the Medical Examination. During the Document Verification process, the educational qualifications and other relevant documents provided by the candidates are verified. Additionally, during the Medical Examination, candidates are examined to ascertain whether they are healthy and physically capable of carrying out tasks as required for a police constable position. Only those who pass these final checks are included in the final selection list, confirming their eligibility for the constable position.
