IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 exam pattern in the official notification. Candidates appearing for the exam should refer to the exam pattern to understand the structure of the examination. The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted for a duration of 3 hours and will include a General Aptitude section common to all branches. As per the GATE exam pattern, the paper will consist of 65 questions (10 from General Aptitude and 55 from the concerned subject) carrying a total of 100 marks. The exam will comprise MCQs, MSQs, and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). Negative marking will be for MCQs only, with ⅓ mark deduction for 1-mark questions and ⅔ mark deduction for 2-mark questions, while MSQs and NAT questions carry no negative marking.
