CIL MT Age Limit
The maximum age limit of CIL MT is 30 years for candidates belonging to the general category. Age relaxation applies to certain categories like OBC, SC, ST, and PwD, among others, according to government guidelines. Candidates must fulfill their age requirements while applying.

Coal India Minimum Qualifying Marks (Category-wise)
Candidates preparing for the CIL MT exam 2026 must know the minimum marks criteria. Here is the clear distribution of marks category-wise.
- General (UR), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) & EWS: 60% marks.
- SC, ST & PwBD: 55% marks (5% relaxation).
- Important Note: Rounding off of percentage (%) is not acceptable (e.g., 59.99% will not be considered as 60% and will be treated as ineligible).
CIL MT General Degree Conditions
Candidates also have confusion related to the type of degrees that are eligible for the Coal India exam application. Here is the clear distribution which must be followed:
- Full-Time Course: BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.)/MCA/M.Sc/M. Tech must be regular full-time courses from a recognized University/Institute.
- Distance Learning: Degrees obtained through online/correspondence/part-time/Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are allowed only for Non-Technical disciplines (i.e., Hindi), provided they are recognized by relevant statutory bodies.
- Final Year Students: Candidates currently in the final semester/year of the academic year 2025-26 can apply, provided they expect their results by 31.08.2026.

CIL MT Probation Period
Candidates appointed to the CIL Management Trainee job profile will have to undergo training/probation. The duration of the probation will be 1 year.

CIL MT Exam Pattern 2026
The Computer-Based Test for CIL MT Recruitment is an objective-type exam that comprises two papers for 100 marks each. The details of the exam pattern are given below.
