CGPSC Exam Details 2026

The CGPSC Prelims exam is divided into 2 Papers – Paper I which is a General Studies Test and Paper 2, which is an Aptitude Test. The CGPSC Prelims Syllabus for Paper evaluates the candidates knowledge of general studies and general knowledge of Chhattisgarh. It comprises topics like Indian history, geography, polity, economy, environment, science and tech, art and culture of India along with administrative structure, festivals, resources of Chhattisgarh., etc.

Section 4: This section has 2 questions of which candidates must answer any one question. The question will carry 10 marks and needs to be answered in about 125 words.

Section 05 - In this section there will be 2 questions each from Part-01 & Part-03 of syllabus of concerned question paper, The candidates have to attempt respectively 1 question from each part. Each question will carry 15 marks. Thus the maximum marks for this section will be 30. The word limit is 175.

The candidates who qualify for the CGPSC Mains examination will be invited for an interview. The interview assesses the candidates technical aptitude, personality, and suitability for this post. It carries a weightage of 100 marks.

According to the CGPSC marking scheme specified in the exam pattern, there will be negative marking in the objective-type prelims exam. For every wrong answer, 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Thus, candidates must avoid random guessing of answers and attempt only the ones the are sure of.

As per the CGPSC Eligibility requirements, the age limit for CGPSC State Service is as mentioned below. Relaxations in the upper age limit will be allowed only for reserved categories.

• Minimum age: 21 years
• Maximum age: 30 years (28 years for Deputy Superintendent of Police).

Certain relaxations are allowed in the CGPSC age limit. These relaxations are for reserved category applicants, and are allowed based on the prevailing government regulations in the state.
