For Cycle-1 notification, the age limit for the BSF Constable is as follows:
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 23 years

Age Relaxation
- In addition to the maximum age restriction, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes are entitled to a relaxation of up to five years.
- Non-creamy layers of backward classes, such as OBCs, are entitled to an upper age relaxation of up to 3 years.
- Ex-servicemen candidates belonging to Cycle-2 are entitled to 8-year age relaxation, provided they belong to the SC or ST category, and for those of OBC, they are entitled to 6 years of age relaxation.
- In addition, Ex-servicemen candidates of unreserved candidates are entitled to 3-years age relaxation.
- Moreover, candidates of central government civil servants and departments are entitled to 10 years of age relaxation, provided they belong to the SC or ST category.
- However, candidates for Central Govt. Civilian Employees and Departments are entitled to 8 years and 5 years of age relaxation, respectively, provided they belong to the OBC or Unreserved category.
- There is a 10-year, 8-years, and 5-year age relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, and unreserved candidates who were affected by the riots in 1984 and 2002.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have graduated from a recognized university/board with matriculation or equivalent, as well as:
For Cycle-1 Candidates
- A minimum of two years experience in the respective trade OR
- One-year certificate study at an Industrial Training Institute or Vocational Institute, with at least one year of trade experience. Or
- A two-year diploma from an Industrial Training Institute in the trade or related trade.
For Cycle-2 Candidates
Matriculation or a 10th Class pass from a recognized board or institution, as well as:
(a) a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute in the particular trade; Or
(b) Three years of relevant job experience
