BPSC Qualification 2026
According to the BPSC Educational Qualification 2026, the candidate needs to possess a graduation degree from a recognised university or a similar qualification. The degree need not necessarily belong to any particular subject as long as there is no mention of the same for some jobs. Although a certain type of qualification is asked for some posts, as mentioned below:

BPSC Age Limit 2026
Candidates applying for the BPSC 72nd recruitment must be aware of the upper and minimum age limits for the BPSC. This is one of the requirements that applicants need to fulfill. Candidature will be cancelled if the age limit criteria are not met.
BPSC Nationality
The BPSC exam eligibility requirements state that only Indian nationals are eligible for this recruitment. Candidates must have valid documents to prove their nationality at the time of the document verification round. Candidates should also refer to the BPSC Answer Key to prepare for the exam.
Important Note on Domicile: While Indian citizens from any state can apply for the exam, the notification specifies that the benefits of reservation will only be given to the permanent residents (domicile) of Bihar State. Candidates from outside Bihar will be considered under the Unreserved (General) category.
BPSC Physical Eligibility
The eligibility for the BPSC exam also requires fulfilling certain physical standards. BPSC Pay Scale and Pay Level 2026
The Pay Scale for BPSC 2026 is based on the salary structure of the Bihar Government according to the 7th CPC. Successful candidates from the 72nd BPSC Exam are recruited at Pay Levels 6, 7, and 9. The higher the pay scale, the greater the chance of promotions. BPSC Pay Level-wise Distribution is mentioned here:
- Level 9: Senior administrative and gazetted posts
- Level 7: Field officer and departmental implementation posts
- Level 6: Entry-level welfare administration posts
BPSC Salary 2026 Post-wise Details
As per the official notification, the 72nd BPSC Salary for each post comprises Basic Pay, Additional Allowances, and Deductions as per grade pay and level of the post. The BPSC SDM salary is around INR 61,500 - 72,000, while the salary for a Revenue Officer is INR 59,858 - INR 68,795. BPSC Grade Pay 2026
The Grade Pay for BPSC Salary also differs post-wise. Candidates will get Rs. 5400 grade pay for the level 9 pay scale that includes posts like Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Commandant, Bihar Education Service, Assistant Commissioner of State-Taxes, Electoral Officer, Planning Officer / District Planning Officer (Gazetted), and Junior Registrar.
Apart from that, candidates with the level 7 pay scale will receive a ₹4600 grade along with the salary. This includes Food and Supply Inspector, Labour enforcement officer (Non-gazetted), and Revenue Officer.
