APSC Assistant Engineer Exam Pattern 2025: Overview
The APSC Assistant Engineer selection process consists of two major steps:
- Written Test: The test tests the general aptitude, knowledge of engineering, and the problem-solving ability of a candidate in the form of an objective-type test.
- Interview/Personality Test: A face-to-face interview that tests the candidates' technical knowledge, communication skills, and overall suitability for the job.
Every stage of the evaluation process contributes to the overall score of the candidate and plays a specific role. Written Exam holds a maximum weightage of 400 marks, whereas the Interview carries a weightage of 100 marks. Combining all these stages, it adds up to 500 marks. While each of the stages is essential for candidates, strategizing further depends on the details of each stage.
APSC Assistant Engineer 2025 Exam Stages
APSC AE Exam 2025 is divided into two major stages of evaluation:
Stage 1: Written Examination: It consists of two main papers, General Studies and the one for the candidate's special engineering discipline, for example, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical. Candidates are tested in both papers, thus qualifying for the second round.
Stage 2: Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who clear the first stage are allowed to further participate in the interview session. In this process, examiners test their technical skills, problem-solving qualities, and other personality factors required for a person employed in public service.
It follows that the last merit list is prepared from the added marks of the Written Test and Interview. Thus, both are essential stages for qualification.
APSC Assistant Engineer Written Exam Pattern 2025
Knowing the exam pattern of a particular exam is always helpful for candidates. The marks' allotment in the APSC Assistant Engineer 2025 exam is decided each year by the commission. Depending on the number of questions asked from each subject, candidates should align their practice and revision. There are two papers expected, i.e., Paper I & Paper II. Paper I deal with civil engineering, and the marks allotted to Paper I are 100 marks. The examination takes place for a duration of 2 hours. Refer to the table below for more information.

APSC Assistant Engineer Interview/Personality Test

APSC Assistant Engineer 2025 Syllabus
The Assam Public Service Commission or APSC Assistant Engineer Syllabus, contains two subjects. They are General Studies and Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Chemical Engineering.
